A Tale of Three Shoes

Why pick on Elana?

I woke up two days ago to leg pain specifically the area around my knee.  Today the pain was still there and by afternoon my knee was swollen - I was missing a knee cap.  It was late in the day and I thought it might be difficult to get a doctors appointment.  I also considered urgent care.  Having grown up with a family history of vascular issues (my mother suffered phlebitis 3 times and my sisters had also had flare ups), I decided on a local ER.  If any tests were needed I could get everything done at once.  (the name of the ER is not important here - that's not what this is about)

After a thorough examination and a lot of whining on my part, the ER doctor announced to me that I had a knee sprain.  She did not know how or what could have caused this.  I was relieved to find out that it was nothing serious but that did not satisfy the doctor.  Looking around for a reason, she spotted my innocent shoes.  Elana lay helpless in the corner never knowing what was about to hit her as my ER doctor sent daggers her way.

I spent the next five minutes being scolded about heels and told that I would need to where flats.  FLATS, I couldn't even comprehend this term and advised the staff they'd better get ready to treat me for a heart attack next.

Poor Elana -   There's no way she could be responsible for this.  I was glad that I wasn't wearing Rachel and didn't confess that I'd worn her the day before -- now there was a heel........

I think if the doctor had even glanced at Jasmine, I'd be in shoe rehab for sure.

If you run into me in the next few weeks,  I will be the much shorter girl wearing the flat but oh so stylish shoes....and if you look close, I might have an ice pack (or bag of corn) resting on my knee.
