They say that the second week of National Novel Writing Month comes with a curse. Not that I believe in curses but the second week left me trying to make a decision about throwing in the towel.
I've mentioned before that my house is under reconstruction. With the outside projects done for the winter (and there were plenty), we have moved inside. Over the last few weeks I've had one bathroom gutted and remodeled. I absolutely love it but it was not without chaos.
Last week was also busy at work, some late nights & early morning meetings and needless to say, my novel suffered. Here we are at the 1/2 way point and I am not half way.
Yesterday, I spent the day with my parents who were celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary. We took a casino bus trip. I am happy to report that I brought my lap top and did some serious catch up on the bus. I also came back with most of my money - it was pretty good day.
Today I took the day off and had intended to spend it gathering speed on my novel. Instead, my sister arrived and I spent the day with her - shopping (12 hours worth). By the time I sat down to write it was 11PM.
Totally exhausted, I managed to at least get over the 10,000 word mark. I'm still trailing but throw in the towel - never!
We are finally doing what we've spent a good part of our lives thinking about doing...
